I write and sing songs and paint in between. I have always divided my time Between LA and Nelson BC which has always been the way as my dad is from Canada and my mum was from Hollywood –I love the contrast between the city and the forest. Reflecting on where I’ve been and the anticipation of where I’m going stretches my perspective.

I have three records under my belt – the first was Two Cats – the second Pieces and the third Circus

CIRCUS was recorded in three locations: my living room in Los Angeles with Mark Howard, in Ymir British Columbia with Shawn Stephenson, and in Ventura, CA. in the garage of my longtime friend and music collaborator, Jonathan Meenk (both prior records were all done with this man, which iI am totally proud of !)

The recording of CIRCUS was an intuitive process. There were no preconceived ideas as to how things would go. Each producer invited musician friends to the project to play live without really knowing the songs. Mark invited drummer Don Heffington, guitarist Michael Chavez, and bassist Hal Cragin. Shawn invited bassist Jesse Brian Lee and drummer Steve Brockley.  We jammed on the songs once, twice, maybe three times, and then hit record. In Jonathan’s garage it was similar--he played drums while I sang and played guitar; we played it a few times, then hit record, with Jon adding guitar over dubs. I sent the whole project to mix with Steve Marcantonio in Nashville, whose experience and special touch brought all the songs on CIRCUS together to make it a cohesive whole.

It was so exciting and scary at the same time, but it felt like a perfect reflection, because I was committed to responding authentically to what exists around me when I wrote these songs.

Everyone who gave themselves to CIRCUS gave their first musical intuition to each song. This immediate response to the songs lends levity to this record. The process was not belabored, there were no burdens; a true and untethered musical community was formed in an instant.

I’m ready to record again and really ready to sing a set for you – hit me up if you want to collaborate lynn@furrd.com and give me a followwwwww
